Major Incidents:
- In 1976, Hurricane Belle skirts the coasts of NC and VA before making landfall on Long Island, NY and weakening into a tropical storm before crossing into Connecticut, killing 12 and causing over $100 million in damages.
- In 1999, a gunman entered the Los Angeles Jewish Community Center and opened fire wounding 5, including 4 children. The gunman later killed a Postal Worker before finally surrendering to police
